Towards the end of my engineering career, I decided to start a web design business focused on artists -- the presentation of their artwork and the development of their art businesses (see www.dandeliongroup.com for my artist websites). As I continued to be exposed to artists and their work, I was excited to see my own latent interest in doing art begin to awaken. Lesson opportunities emerged and I anxiously embraced them -- my right brain began to stir. I found my new immersion in the local art scene to be most inspiring.

Joshua Tree and FountainDuring my artistic journey, I have experienced oils, watercolors, pastels, colored pencil and acrylics. I have also experimented with wood turning, pottery, jewelry making and photography. I am now concentrating on acrylic painting as I feel acrylics allow me to best express my creativity through the vibrant colors and versatility of the medium.

Most recently, I have painted what I see around me in the Mountain West where I’ve grown up as a Colorado native, the Northern Sonoran Desert where I love to hike and observe the magnificent desert landscape, and the sea where I frequently sail and snorkel and experience colorful fish and sailboats. In many of my recent paintings, I’ve experimented with simplified shapes, intense colors, exaggerated perspectives with a few surprises sprinkled in.

My artist instructors and consultants include: Patti Andre, Jim Biggers, Bob Burridge, Betty Carr, Diane Edwards, Mary Giacomini, Lu Haskew, Nancy Carr, Frank Francese, Lance Green, Jakki Kouffman, Mary Landis, Ken Muenzenmayer, and Carol Nelson.

.bonIn addition to individual artists, my clients have included a number of art galleries. I decided to join the Thompson Valley Art League in Loveland where I began exhibiting my work. I have participated in their Spring, Summer and Fall shows over the past 10 years and have received several awards for my paintings.

In January, 2014, I participated in a 16-artist show ‘Winter Illusions’ at the Carnegie Gallery in Ft. Collins, Colorado.

In the summer of 2014 my show ‘The Unconformities’ was featured at the Lincoln Gallery in Loveland, Colorado during the month of July.
